Doktoranduszok Országos Szövetsége (DOSZ), the Association of Hungarian PhD and DLA Candidates, successfully organized the XXVI Spring Wind Conference from May 5th to 7th, 2023, at the University of Miskolc. The conference served as a platform for young researchers and doctoral candidates across scientific disciplines to showcase their research findings through oral and poster presentations.
The University of Miskolc took pride in hosting the conference and played a vital role in its organization. With the aim of fostering knowledge and technology transfer, the three-day event aimed to bridge the gap between young scientists and representatives from the competitive sector. In addition to the specialized meetings and professional programs, the conference also featured community and cultural activities, creating a well-rounded experience for participants.
Prominent figures delivered speeches during the opening ceremony. Prof. Zita Horváth, the rector of the University of Miskolc, expressed her honor in hosting the conference and highlighted the university's exceptional doctoral training programs. Miklós Lengyel, the Deputy Secretary of State responsible for training and science diplomacy, shared insights into the benefits of studying at the University of Miskolc, particularly for foreign students. Prof. Dr. Heidrich Balázs, the vice-president of the Hungarian Rectors' Conference, emphasized the key qualities that make an outstanding researcher. Prof. Dr. Valéria Csépe, the president of the Hungarian Higher Education Accreditation Committee (MAB), commended the growth and popularity of the Spring Wind Conference.
Dániel Molnár, the president of DOSZ, expressed gratitude for the University of Miskolc's hosting and emphasized the organization's dedication to representing and safeguarding the interests of doctoral students. László Erdei, the President of the Doctoral Student Government of the University of Miskolc, highlighted the conference's objective of fostering interdisciplinary connections and relationships among participants.
The opening ceremony also featured the appointment of University Ambassadors and the presentation of the DOSZ Ambassadors' letters of credence. The conference attracted over 400 registrations, enabling participants to present their research in various subsections and compete for awards recognizing the best speakers. Among the distinguished awardees contributing to the conference's vibrant academic discourse, Rafael Valadez Vergara claimed the coveted 1st place in the Geoinformatics subsection, from the Earth Science division. His captivating presentation delved into the topic of "Utilization of Advanced Inversion Tools for Analyzing Unconventional Hydrocarbon Reservoirs." It is worth mentioning that Rafael Valadez Vergara is a dedicated member of the TEKH Vocational College.
The resounding success of the XXVI Spring Wind Conference paves the way for the upcoming XXVII edition, ensuring the continued growth and impact of this scientific event.
