Geothermal field trip Biharkeresztes

On 15 November 2025, students of the University of Miskolc and members of its specialized college were given insight into the processes of a geothermal drilling operation in Biharkeresztes.
The drilling, with a planned total depth of 3200 meters, is being carried out by Bayer Construct Zrt. and is scheduled to continue until mid-December, using the largest drilling rig in Hungary. The participants received an overview of the drilling process, geological sampling, and the special drilling mud technology, presented by internationally recognized experts.
The trip was organized by the Institute of Water Resources and Environmental Management of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences and Engineering of the University of Miskolc with the support of Bayer Construct, led by associate professor Dr. Viktória Mikita.
