Geological researchers, TEKH mentors among the authors of the Q1 publication - research knows no subject area boundaries

12. December 2025.
Members and mentors of our Vocational College don't very often appear on the author lists of Q1 publications. This time, however, it happened: Dr. Norbert Zajzon, Boglárka Anna Topa, and Dr. Máté Zsigmond Leskó are co-authors of an outstanding-quality interdisciplinary publication. In this study, paleontology is present solely as a science revealing environmental conditions, through the examination of the skeleton of Jurassic marine ammonite cephalopods. The researchers from Miskolc analyzed the calcite crystal structure of the animal's jaw, converting it into information suitable for combinatorial geometric analysis, in order to uncover the distribution of stable isotopes carrying environmental characteristics. A more detailed discussion of the topic can be read in Nature Communications.
