As a semester-closing event, a field trip was organized in the Bükk by the TEKH Vocational Colladge, led by Norbert Németh. Six of our students participated in this event, namely Khouloud Jlaiel, Katherine Solange Fiallos Ayala, Amr Nasser Mohammed Moharran, Aladdin Almarashly, Mohammad Zahbi and Csilla Balassa.
We met at the Újgyőr main square at the morning, from where we travelled to Bükkszentlászló by bus, and we continued walking from there to Bükkszentkereszt. The main aim of the trip was to get to know the Triassic metavolcanics of the Bükk Mts. (Szentistvánhegy Metavolcanics, Bagolyhegy Metarhyolite, Szinva Metabasalt), between which the main difference is a trace element geochemistry.
During the day we could use the scintillation detector of the Institute of Exploration Geosciences. In spectral mode we measured the potassium (kalium; K), uranium (U) and thorium (Th) concentration of the rocks.
Of course, the day was not just about geology, as we visited beautiful places, we tasted a variety of fruits, saw mushrooms and interesting insects. At the and we traveled back to the city with good experiences.
